- typescript account of his arrival at the Waikino Battery in January 1931
- manuscript notebooks of study notes while studying at the Waihi School of Mines for the Battery Superintendant's Certificate:
-- "Metallurgy of Gold and Silver: 1 Ore Crushing and Pulverising" (Waihi School of Mines)
-- "Assaying" (Waikino School of Mines)

In his article, Joseph Killey explains the notes were taken while studying for the Battery Superintendent's certificate, and the associated course in gold and silver assaying, at the Waihī School of Mines.
