Rose Petal Newman - Creative Conservationist

Rose has recently joined our art community in Tauranga / Mount Maunganui after moving here from Dunedin.

Her primary creative pursuit is working with clay.
She also paints, illustrates, does sign writing and is refining her skills in exquisitely detailed tattoo design.

Rose has a deep affinity with the ocean and marine life and this is reflected in many of the works that come to life in her beachside studio at the Mount.

It was a painting of the sea on a skateboard hung in a Mount Maunganui café that first caught my attention and several conversations about creativity and nature conservation ensued.

After a chat about the disturbing number of non-recyclable single use cups Kiwis use ( some 295,000,000 each year ) Rose decided to make her own keep cups from clay.

I was very lucky to be the recipient of one of her beautifully decorated, uniquely designed Creative Conservation keep cups.
Hopefully the original look and well executed artwork on these desirable objects will encourage the increased use of keep cups and limit the number of disposables ending up in landfill.

Rose’s goal is to be able to earn a living from her creative endeavours by developing new ideas, growing her skills and giving pleasure to those who see her art.

She can also customise artworks to include personal symbolism and ideas on request.

I’m sure her need to create coupled with her hard work ethic will continue to ensure success.
