General Pemberton - Battle of Gate Pa

SummaryThe Pemberton family originally 'hailed' from Yorkshire, North of England. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, the Family came from London, with one its 'sons' being the Mayor of London and involved in the 'Fire of London 1666'. Moreover, the Pemberton family tree stems back to Norway or of Viking origins. General Pemberton, who represented the Pemberton family at the Battle of Gate Pa is one the Pemberton family's more famous sons. Subjectively, the General may be described as 'infamous' depending on the reader's point of view. Never-the-less, General Pemberton remains embedded in the history of Gate Pa and of course, Pemberton Park Tauranga, New Zealand.
