Reference Number0148/19/29DescriptionBroadcaster and Village Radio volunteer, James Hartstonge, founded the Tauranga District Museum Oral History Unit in 1988. The unit recorded 66 interviews in three years. This interview with Mr George Playfair (Fred) is one of these. It was recorded at his home in 15th Avenue, Tauranga. The length of the initial recording is 46:22 minutes and continues onto a second recording that is 15:57 minutes.

Fred Playfair was born (1908 but not registered) and educated in Tauranga. His parents arrived from Australia in 1902. He trained as a dental technician and was active in hockey, rugby and yachting and the Fire Brigade.
