Centre of the picture, currently the site of Tauranga Boys' College, was then a co-educational, secondary school 'Tauranga College' or also known as 'Hillsdene College', which opened in September 1945. The site, known as Hillsdene, was named by the property's former owner, a Mr. Sheath, then the Postmaster of Tauranga. To the right, the ten acre block was purchased in 1947 for school playing fields. To the left is a citrus factory. Taken and donated to the Tauranga Library by Rendell, Alfred Hugh 1917-2019, author of "Rendell's Tauranga, Historic Tauranga from above", a well known local photographer as was his father Robert John Rendell 1875-1941 before him.
