Avis Acres (Thyra Avis Mary Acres, née McNeill, 1910-1994), was the popular author and illustrator of a New Zealand Herald comic strip followed by a series of books for children. Both featured Hutu and Kawa, the pohutukawa fairies. She also wrote and illustrated articles for various publications. With her husband Bob she lived in Auckland, Taupo, Levin, Te Horo, and finally Tauranga.LevelCollectionLanguageEnglish
