Hopes are expressed for a new building/reading room. The library committee would like more room for books, staff and customers. A loan proposal is referred to, which is advertised in the Bay of Plenty Times in early 1929. £2300 is proposed "for the purpose of erecting a public library, reading room and sanitary conveniences (ladies rest room)".
