In 1903 Noble Alexander Johnston (1856-1948) bought out Robert Francis Blakeney's (18691947) butchery in Katikati. Robert had purchased the butchery business from Thomas Goldsborough Anderson (18331903) of Jesmond in 1893. Noble retired in 1913 and the butchery was taken over by his son Noble Johnston (18851956) who would have been operating it in January 1938 when this calendar was produced (Shop 16 M, Residence 16 D).
