Date2013DescriptionGreerton's cherry blossom trees were hit by a different kind of blossom on 30 June 2013 when they were targeted by a gang of yarn bombers. Yarn bombing has becoming popular since first recorded in 2004. Needlewielding knitters bombed Greerton”s cherry trees as part of a community art project. As the trees have lost their leaves for the winter they make an ideal canvas for the creative guerilla knitter. Hats were even created for the bollards that line the Village streets, some adorned with fluffy pompom's. The artwork includes woollen knitting, crocheting and panels from recycled jumpers. Evidence of crochet and other needlework are littered throughout the colourful display. Photograph: Lee Switzer (2013). Photographer/CreatorSwitzer, Lee
