Date1917DescriptionSepia toned photograph of Dr Wilfred Stanley Wallis and wife Elsie Ada Wallis (nee Williams) in the church army hut at Hornchurch (London, England) at the christening of baby Ynys in September 1917. Ynys was born during a Zeppelin raid over London. Because Wilfred was on duty, he wasn”t present at her birth, but tried to visit the next morning. He wasn”t allowed into Elsie's room straight away so went shopping on Bond Street in London where he bought a christening gown. A few weeks later Ynys was christened in that gown, which has been used by members of her family ever since.
