Maxwell, Duff Heron, 1903-1997 (Person)
SummaryDuff Heron Maxwell was born in Rahotu, Taranaki, on the 31st of July 1903 to Ebenezer and Pattie Maxwell. He came to Tauranga in 1949 to take over the guardianship of The Elms, after the property was left to him by his aunt Alice Maxwell. In 1963 he established The Elms Historic Family Home Preservation Trust to manage the preservation of the property. Duff and his wife Gertrude lived at The Elms until 1992. Duff passed away on the 6th of September 1997 at the age of 94 years.
