Date1918DescriptionClose up of a small photograph showing “Military Officer and A.D.B. on steps of Cologne Cathedral 1918”. See full page here.
After the Armistice, British, French and Belgium forces occupied the German Rhineland. The British Army of the Rhine (BAOR) took control of Cologne. Initially set up in March 1919 they were made up of five Corps and a Cavalry Division. During the early part of this Occupation Blair was appointed Naval Transport Officer in Cologne. Blair has dated these photos 1918 and this close up has him standing with Officers that seem to resemble Sir Claud Jacob (commanded II Corps), Sir Alexander Godley (commanded IV Corps) and Sir Aylmer Haldane (commanded VI Corps). Perhaps this was a forward party just prior to the occupation?
