Built in 1864 by Frederick George for Henry Tacey Clarke, Civil Commissioner of Tauranga. Originally located in Tauranga overlapping the Town Hall Site. The house endured challenges during construction, including delays caused by the appropriation of its timber. Served as Clarke's residence until 1873 and later housed notable local figures such as John Hollings Griffiths, clerk of the Tauranga County Council. It was a wooden structure with a verandah wrapping around three sides. Relocated to Judea in 1978.
