Constructed in 1936 by Dr. John Mark and family, this two-story building was among Tauranga’s early art-deco structures. Known locally as Dr. Mark’s House, it served as his family residence and clinic. In the 1970s, it became a popular flat for young locals, including trades apprentices. The house featured classic art-deco elements, including geometric detailing and a flat rooftop, which became an informal social space for residents. Rimu wood flooring and original art-deco doors added authentic period detail.
Demolished in 2000. SourcesAnother building bites the dust: Bay of Plenty Times 21 January 2000
