DescriptionDOB April 18 1888.DOD July 10 1971..Trooper Arthur Whyte (11/449) served in the First World War as a Trooper in the Wellington Mounted Rifles. He was single at the time
a farmer and the son of George Whyte of Taranaki. He fought at Gallipoli
was injured in May and again in August of 1915 at Chunuk Bair (gunshot wound
right foot and ankle). He won the 191415 Star
the British War Medal
the Victory Medal.Trrper Whyte returned to New Zealand on the S.S Lusatania in February 1916. He is buried at Rotorua Returned Soldier Cemetery.
