SummaryKent’s Cottage was a modest timber dwelling of late 19th or early 20th century construction, located at the intersection of Cameron Road and Kent Street in Gate Pā. A pencil sketch dated 1 June 1964 depicts the cottage as a single-storey, gabled structure clad in horizontal weatherboards with a corrugated iron or shingled roof. The main volume was fronted by a recessed verandah. A projecting wing with a gabled roof set perpendicular to the main ridge, featuring a narrow window facing the porch (not captured in the illustration), may have contained a service room. A continuous rear lean-to might have been an early extension or modification. The cottage remained occupied until at least the mid-1960s but was noted as demolished by 1972.
