Constructed in 1863 as the Tauranga Store, this two-storey timber building featured a symmetrical façade with a central door flanked by display windows, and tall arched sash windows above. The parapet was inscribed “Established 1863” and "Tauranga Store". It was also the residence of Thomas Wrigley.
It burned down June the first, 1881, when the block of buildings between Harington and Hamilton street succumbed to fire.
A replica, based on photographs and salvaged design elements, was later built at Tauranga’s Historic Village on 17th Avenue.
