SummaryBorn in 1883 in Murrurundi, New South Wales, Chadban, known as 'Chad', moved to Cambridge then to Tauranga in November 1901 and opened a barbers shop 'The Elite' in Grey Street, later combined with a Billiard saloon.
He married Lillian Jane Hardingham of Christchurch in 1908, and had children Ernest Raymond, b. 1912- d.3/8/1976, and Dulcie (Dorrie) Merle Chadban, b. 1914.
After managing a hotel in Whitianga, he moved to Mount Maunganui and became a skipper of the launch 'Kingfish' promoting big game fishing, gaining a life membership of the Tauranga and Whitianga Big Game Fishing Clubs.
His boat team laded the first big game fish caught in New Zealand, in the Bay of Islands waters.
His interests included among others sports, surf lifesaving, big game fishing and gardening.
He had a greenhouse at his residence on Victoria Road.
He died in Tauranga in 5 April 1964.
A series of three articles on his experiences were published in the Bay of Plenty Times in December 1960.
