SummaryBorn in Gisborne in 1898, William studied law through correspondence at Auckland University. After working in Te Kūiti, Matamata and Rotorua, he settled in Te Puke, practising law there for 50 years. He married Frances Mary King in 1930. At their Hookey Homestead in Te Puke, they hosted events such as youth lawn tennis and Boy Scouts Gala days. He was Mayor of Te Puke from 1944 to 1955.
He was given a reception by the Te Puke Borough Council for 50 years residence.
