SummaryHelen was born in 1897, in Glasgow.
She volunteered with the Red Cross during the first World War.
She studied in Dublin and Glasgow and graduated with her medical degree in 1921.
She came to Tauranga in 1947 with her daughter Pat and husband, Major John Mackenzie, and set up a medical practice until her semi-retirement in the late 1950s.
She held a rare gold card for 50 years of registration as a doctor.
She died in in 1985 survived by her two children.
