SummaryAlice Heron Maxwell was born in Kilmore, Victoria Australia in 1860 to Reverend Andrew Maxwell and Euphemia Ballingall Johnston.
Her widowed mother, Euphemia, was bequeathed The Elms property in 1887 by her sister, Christina Brown, second wife of Archdeacon A. N. Brown. On Euphemia's passing in 1919, the property was passed to Alice who, with sister Edith, took on its guardianship, worked to share its history, and provided a venue for fundraising events.
