A Corporal Gravatt is invested with three stars and a rifle, badges of merit for class firing, at a monthly parade of the Tauranga Rifle Volunteers, reported in the very first issue of the Bay of Plenty Times. Corporal Gravatt appears regularly in notices of Volunteer rifle shooting until early 1874.
An E. Gravatt is also mentioned several times, in similar contexts, so is likely the same person. Family Search provides a free basic genealogy here.
Family sources believe Percy Edwin Gravatt (abt. 1906-1991, according to WikiTree, see the 2003 Bay of Plenty Times article listed below), was the son of Alfred James Gravatt (1874-1944), who was the youngest of Edward Morgan and Mary Ann Gravatt's children.
