SummaryBorn 17 February 1924 at Lambeth, London, son of Sascha Ernest Cox, gravel-pit miner, and Alice Cox. He served in the Home Guard, East Surrey Regiment, and A Squadron, 141st Royal Armoured Corps, as driver/mechanic of the Churchill tank Stallion, landing at Juno Beach on D-Day. He emigrated with his wife and family to New Zealand in the early 1960s, later living at Pyes Pā and spending his last years in Greerton, Tauranga. Cox wrote unpublished memoirs and was interviewed by Tauranga City Library staff in 2011.
