Faulkner's Ferries, 1909-1969 (Organisation)

SummaryA regular passenger ferry service between Tauranga and Mount Maunganui, later operated as Faulkner Bros. Ltd. John Daniel Faulkner advertised launch trips to Mount Maunganui as early as 1909, and the service became a main harbour link before improved road access reduced demand.

The route ran between Tauranga, including Coronation Pier and the Strand waterfront, and Mount Maunganui, including Salisbury Wharf at Pilot Bay.

Service declined after the Maungatapu–Matapihi causeway and bridge opened in 1959. Faulkner Brothers’ operation was sold to North Shore Ferries Ltd in 1969.
