Baker in the former Theatre Royal, Harington Street. Firm became H. B. Mountfort & Co. Ltd in 1918. Farmers’ merchants. Seed, fertiliser, stock feed, implements, machinery, credit. Introduced grain-crushing to the Bay of Plenty. Supported farmers through bush sickness years, depression and mechanisation.
