DescriptionThe 6 Hauraki Association's newsletter (2012 No 68) recorded this Auckland Star article describing the homecoming of the Allen brothers (Steve and Bob) in 1919 (Issue 148, 23 June 1919, Page 7). This photo was included with further comments in the newsletter:
" Note;
*Lt Col S.S. Allen wearing 6 Hauraki Badge and his brother R.C. Allen wearing 14th Waikato badge while among the crowd are seen badges of all four Infantry Regiments that made up the “Auckland Regiment” of the Great War.
*Captain J G Coates of Matakohe Northland, later Prime Minister ofNew Zealandand a member of the War Cabinet of WWII.
* Major C.S. White enlisted from Helensville later Commanding officer of the North Auckland Regiment and later Honorary Colonel"
