Jonathan 'Dick' Brown

He was a member of the Te Puke Town Board and Te Puke Borough Council and served as mayor from 1936 to 1939. He was also a member of the Tauranga Acclimatisation Society, Tauranga Racing Club, Te Puke Agricultural and Pastoral Association and Te Puke Rugby Union. Brown Terrace in Te Puke is named after his family. The Brown brothers established a stock trading company that was taken over by the NZ Loan and Mercantile. Cartoon by B. E. Pike, with photo insert.
