Datec. 1912Reference NumberPhoto 01-109DescriptionGroup of Ōropi settlers c. 1912. Annotated S. WiDT, Ōropi.
Men in round hats, 2nd and 3rd from left, identified as the Williams brothers, who had a farm where Bayfair now is. Neither of them married.
A note from A. (Sandy) Snodgrass dated 30 July 2001, attached to a cutting of the photo, suggests the man in the middle row on the right (in the bowler and impressive moustache) was his future father-in-law A. E. Putt, who lived in Ōropi in 1912 (Sandy was 95 when he wrote his note; he had lived in Te Puna for 25 years from 1935).
An annotation on the cutting says the man over Mr Putt's left shoulder could be C. Hansen.
