Janice Giles: Exciting New Exhibition

One of her new works is included in the Molly Morpeth Canaday annual exhibition showing in Whakatāne until February 6, 2012.

Janice considers her recent work to be transitional and the result is a series of highly intriguing paintings.

Her new solo exhibition at Coast Pavilion, Pāpāmoa is called 'Transitions'.

"I'm feeling my way toward a stronger and more individual style”, says Janice.

"This means taking more risks, going where intuition takes me and trusting in what is evolving.”

Part way through this process Janice recognised the metaphorical context of what was emerging in her subject material.

Flight, and ‘winged things’ are common motifs.

On a recent visit to Janice's studio, she explained that her current work is part of a story she is painting her way through and, while her own experiences are personal and subjective, the themes are universal and accessible.

Janice's new solo exhibition opening is at 6pm Friday, February 3.

The 'Transitions' exhibition is showing for three days from Saturday, February 4 to Monday, February 6 at the Coast Pavilion, 88 Coast Boulevard, Pāpāmoa Beach Road, Pāpāmoa.
