Beachside Art Auction (2013)
SummaryOwning a great work of art is both achievable and effortless thanks to a fantastic Papamoa Kindergarten fundraising event to be held on Saturday 15th June, 2013. This event has been very well planned and it's clear that this is going to be another boost for art in the Bay of Plenty as well as a successful fundraiser. It will also be an entertaining evening out with friends and a chance to meet new people. Main Body
The Beachside Art Auction, to raise funds for Pāpāmoa Kindergarten, is being organised by an enthusiastic team of parents and many well-known local artists are giving it their full support.
The money raised will help pay for the costs of running the kindergarten. It will also support various educational projects which focus on teaching children about respecting their environment and giving back to the community.
'Reach For The Sky' by Doreen Mc Neill 750mm x 1200mm
The event celebrates many of our best artists and will give them and their work much needed exposure.
Featured above is an abstract landscape painting by respected and sought after Tauranga artist Doreen Mc Neill. This painting and over thirty others will be available at auction on the night.
There will be something for everyone from original paintings in oils and acrylics, accomplished drawings, intriguing mixed media pieces and photographs of Mount Maunganui .
After seeing the list of accomplished artists involved I know the event will be a huge success.
I'm particularly looking forward to seeing works offered for auction by artists Constanza Briceno, Heidi Borchardt, Richard Smith, Glenda Jarrett, and one of Pāpāmoa's own, the remarkable Peter Cramond.
Imaginative works by Timo Ranalli, Becky Popham, Lisa Christiansen and Joyce Van der Lely will add variety and even more interest to the auction.
You can preview the artists and the work up for auction at www.facebook.com/Beachside Art Auction
Joyce Van der Lely's beautiful 'My Water Serpents' will be up for auction.
Joyce's mixed media piece on hand stretched canvas is a homage to Gustav Klimt and will be one of the many accomplished works of art to choose from.
The art evening and auction will be held Te Ākau Ki Pāpāmoa School Hall on Doncaster Drive with viewing from 6:30pm. The auction starts at 8pm.
Tickets are $10 each and this includes a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and finger food. There are no door sales and this is an age 18+ event.
You can order tickets and obtain more information about special prizes at www.facebook.com/Beachside Art Auction or by emailing beachsideartauction@gmail.com
BTW - one of the many good things about this particular auction is that the organisers have allowed the artists to set the reserve price on their works.
Most professional artists are generous by nature and many are asked repeatedly to donate works that otherwise provides their income and livelihoods.
Thankfully the misconception that art is only a hobby for all artists is gradually disappearing and the organisers of this auction are to be fully commended for their enlightened approach when they decided on having an auction of this type.
