SummaryBattle of Gate Pa by Parbhjot from Gate Pa School was part of an entry by Room 15 into the 150th commemoration of the Battle of Gate Pā Poetry Poster Competition (2014). Main BodyThere was a war between British and Māori. Māori made trenches and holes. There I was so scared. Attack! Said the chief, we all jumped attacking the British. I had a gun. I was killing them one by one. Kaboom! They hit a cannon ball. Boof! It took ages and ages to finish the war. We had defeated them. But there were still British people lying on the ground. A lot of men were wounded and killed but I was still alive. I was pleased because the Māori won. The British had not taken our land, for now.
