Broadcaster and Village Radio volunteer, James Hartstonge, founded the Tauranga District Museum Oral History Unit in 1988. The unit recorded 68 interviews in three years. This interview with Charles and Ray Tilby is one of these. It was recorded at Matua, Tauranga. The length of the recording is 25:53 minutes.
Charles was born in 1901 and James Raymond (Ray) in 1905 to Emma and John Tilby. The Tilby family purchased a dairy farm in Otumoetai, Tauranga, in 1914. The Tilby children attended Otumoetai School. Later the farm became a citrus orchard.
