Broadcaster and Village Radio volunteer, James Hartstonge, founded the Tauranga District Museum Oral History Unit in 1988. The unit recorded 66 interviews in three years. This interview with Mr Duff Maxwell is one of these. It was recorded in the library at The Elms, Tauranga. The initial recording is 31:17 minutes and continues onto a second recording that is 31:16 minutes.
Duff Heron Maxwell was born in Rahotu, Taranaki in July 1903 to Ebenezer and Pattie Maxwell. He came to Tauranga in 1949 to take over the guardianship of The Elms.
