Broadcaster and Village Radio volunteer, James Hartstonge, founded the Tauranga District Museum Oral History Unit in 1988. The unit recorded 66 interviews in three years. This interview with Miss Eva Goodyear is one of these. It was recorded in her home in Spring Street. The length of the recording is 38:43 minutes.
Miss Eva Goodyear was born in Tauranga in 1901 to William and Catherine Goodyear. She lived in a home between 8th and 9th Avenues for the first twenty years of her life. Her father was a Maori missionary, the last one sent to New Zealand by the Church Missionary Society. She attended Tauranga District High School now known as Tauranga Primary.
