Patrick Sale B.Sc.Hort. was born and educated in England and recruited in 1964 to work for the Department of Agriculture in New Zealand. He came to Tauranga in 1970 to be the District Horticultural Advisor which covered the entire Bay of Plenty. He retired in 1991 from the Ministry of Agriculture’s national citrus and sub tropical fruit specialist. He helped guide the kiwifruit industry for more than two decades.
