The unit recorded 66 interviews in three years. This interview with William Ross Hamilton (Ross) is one of these. It was recorded at his home in Te Hono Street, Maungatapu. Ross Hamilton came to Tauranga with his parents, John and Rebecca Hamilton, aged four. The family purchased 500 acres at Oropi and found farming very difficult in the early years due to cobalt deficiency. Ross took over farming at Oropi until his retirement to Maungatapu in the 1970s.
