The Waikareao Estuary (misspelt in the caption) was used as a landing place throughout the 1930s. It was in 1933 that that Kingsford Smith and ‘Southern Cross’ visited with ﬂights landing and taking off from the tidal ﬂats. One of several aero craft themed photographs donated by Gavin Meadows.
