Local retiree Rodney Giddens began an undertaking to provide a photographic record of shop fronts from the roadside of Tauranga's CBD in 2015 and 2016. Though initially interested in capturing Art Deco buildings, he ended up photographing other buildings as well.

These apartments stand on the site of a building designed by architect B Corlett (later Govt. architect in Rotorua) who built back to back flats with a central chimney. Owned by Mary Humphreys a well known photographer. She left it to her boarder R C Goulding who lived there for many years. At street level it appeared to be only one room wide. The new development was completed in 2020 and comprise four luxury apartments Seaview Lodge.
