Bradley, son of mill engineer Hugh Bradley: 'This was one of the logs retrieved from the harbour after the boom broke in 1941. It rolled off the truck at this corner, was pulled back on and rolled off the other side and down the gully. It took a week to finally reload and get back to the mill. I can remember the school bus having to go through paddocks to get past. When I was in Katikati and went up to the mill site, Wayne Radford told me that one of the logs that was lost at that time finally ended up in South Africa.
