The photograph is of a group of 20 soldiers dressed in uniform, in front of a weatherboard clad building. Written below the photograph on the border of the card in pencil is: "Group of Officers (& non coms) of the 68th Regt - "Durham Light Infantry" 1864". Written in pen on the back of the card is: "68th Regnt - Durham Light Infantry at Tauranga - 1864 - From left to right - Bugler Smith - Private Hurley - Lieut G. Robley (sitting) - Adjnt Covey - Lieunt Kay - Quarter Master Sladden (sitting) - Lieut Turner (sitting) - Dr. Best - Colonel Greer (sitting) - Major Shuttleworth - Lieut. Woodward - Lieut Caldicott (lying down) - Dr. Alpin (sitting) - Captain Light - Lieunt Greene (sitting) - Lieunt Ilderton - Next with long beard - name not known - Captain Cox (holding sword in left hand) - Sergnt Major Tudor - Colour Sergent Hemus". On the back of the card is an A.N. Brown stamp.. Noted with file: There are 3 articles in this folder, written by a Mr. Klottrup, that relate the story of one of the soldiers in the 68th Regiment, Major Charles Ughtred Shuttleworth, with extracts from his journals written in 1864. The articles are illustrated with photographs from his photo album and one of them could be the same as this photograph.
