The frame is made from a fine leather stained red with gilt decoration, and the photograph slides inside it, with a glass window over it. The photograph is a studio portrait of a man seated in a carved wooden chair holding a book. The photograph is taken in the same studio as the one of his wife Mary Ellis Jefferies, taken by Miss. Cumber, Artist Photographer of Guernsey. There is a note included with this item written in Miss. G. Nevell's hand: "My Grandfather NORTON ( George Hooper), my mother's father and his wife, my Grandmother. ? Mary Ellis Jefferies".. Although not recorded in The Elms Trust receipt book, it is likely this item was donated by Miss. G. Nevell the Grand daughter of Captain William Nevell, as George Hooper Norton was her Grandfather..
