The frame is made from a fine leather stained red with gilt decoration, and the photograph slides inside it, with a glass window over it. The photograph is a studio portrait of a woman seated, dressed in a gown with full sleeves and skirt in the style of the 1860's. The woman is Mary Ellis Jefferies, Grandmother of Miss. G. Nevell, and it is the same image as 2008.0014, taken by Miss. Cumber, Artist Photographer of Guernsey. There is a note included with this item written in Miss. G. Nevell's hand: "My Grandfather NORTON ( George Hooper), my mother's father and his wife, my Grandmother. ? Mary Ellis Jefferies".. Although not recorded in The Elms Trust receipt book, it is likely this item was donated by Miss. G. Nevell the Grand daughter of Captain William Nevell, as Mary Ellis Jefferies was her Grandmother..
