Date1885Reference Number2006.0203DescriptionPortrait photograph of Ebenezer Maxwell in a black and gold wooden frame. 22/12/2010 - when opened for cleaning the picture was found to have a backing board made from a section of an advertising board for Oakey's of Wellington. The photograph is sealed onto the matboard with a half of a page from a magazine titled, The Builder, dated 19 December, 1885. This would appear to date the framing of this picture to this time, and suggests the shortage of materials that craftsmen had to work with. The Oakey's backing board was stored separately in Archival Box 52.. Noted with file: These 3 photographs all have frames of a similar style.Physical DescriptionArt.
