Reference Number2008.0024DescriptionA daguerreotype set in a case with a lid, made of wood covered with a fine brown leather with an ornate pattern stamped into it. The case opens like a book and has a metal hook on the side to close. The inside of the case is lined with a red velvet, and the daguerreotype is mounted under a gold metal surround with an oval shaped opening, set under glass. The daguerreotype is a portrait of a woman and a child. The woman is seated looking at the child, the child is seated on a piece of furniture with a small dog sitting beside him. This is the same scene as 2008.0023, however it is not the same image, as the expressions on the faces of Euphemia and Max are not the same.Physical DescriptionDocumentary Artifact. Daguerreotype
