Roadside photograph of Grey Street number 1, Old Post Office Building. Various signs can be made out, including “ANZ Tauranga”.

This two storied building on the south west corner of Grey and Spring Streets dates from 1938 and it was constructed for the NZ Post Office to replace the Post Office previously in the Government Building in Willow Street. The style is stripped classical with art deco motif below the upper windows and two roundels on the upper facade. On the roof line are two more rectangular ziggurat motifs. The glass verandah has been added at a later date and detracts from the style of the building. The building houses the ANZ bank.
