In 2015 retiree Rodney Giddens undertook to provide a photographic record of shop fronts from the roadside of Tauranga’s CBD. This is a block of Māori land on the corner of The Strand and Harrington St Tauranga. There was a hostel for visiting Māori here in the 19th century that was burnt down and then a new hostel was built in 1903.
