The first Masonic Hotel was built on this site in 1866 and virtually rebuilt in 1906. It was demolished in 1993 and had been part park and carpark from that time. Archaeological evidence shows the location of part of George Maxwell's (1871 - 1950) Belfast Bakery (established by his father John in 1870), next to the Masonic Hotel. George's father John past away in 1904.
The park underwent a significant renovation between October 2023 and September 2024.FormatDigitalPhotographer/CreatorGiddens, RodneySourcesBellamy A C, Tauranga 1882 - 1982, pub Tauranga 1982.visual check from street 2021.
