Date2016Reference NumberPhoto 16-556DescriptionPhotograph of 115 The Strand in Tauranga 2015. In 2015 retiree Rodney Giddens undertook to provide a photographic record of shop fronts from the roadside of Tauranga’s CBD.
115 The Strand is a modern two storied building with Little India Restaurant on the ground floor, and another empty tenancy. There appears to be a travel agent on the first floor. It is adjacent to the corner building of The Strand and Spring Street. From at least 1910 there had been single storied buildings on this site with a variety of tenants. The Melbourne Store and W T Teasey in the Tauranga Arcade were two examples in 1915.FormatDigitalPhotographer/CreatorGiddens, RodneySourcesvisual check from street 2021.Pae Koroki image 04-402, The Strand, Tauranga postcard image.
