SummaryRobyn Pickett is a Tauranga based artist who paints out of a small home-based studio in Pillans Point, Tauranga. Main Body
Although Robyn studied art throughout her earlier schooling years, a career in Auckland took her in a different direction until moving to the Bay of Plenty 10 years ago. Due to family and work commitments, Robyn currently paints on a part-time basis but is moving towards her goal of becoming a full-time professional artist. Robyn mainly works with acrylic and mixed media on canvas and is particularly inspired by the human form, becoming well known for her figurative and portraiture paintings. She also loves to explore with colour and light on many different subjects and will occasionally produce abstract/mixed media works bursting with colour and vibrancy in complete contrast to her more subtle work.
I Watched You Leave - 750mm x 750mm - acrylic on canvas.
”I Watched You Leave” is one of two paintings recently exhibited at the Bethlehem Exhibition. Robyn likes to create a mood in her paintings that enable the viewer to find their own story within it. ”The Reader” was a commission piece that works from a very "non-posed" point of view - just a candid moment in time taken from daily life. Robyn believes you can never stop learning and growing as an artisit and she continues to develop and explore new ideas.
