Letter 1: Spring Street, Tauranga, 18 March 1880, continued 23 March: John da Vinci Louch (1854-1937) to his uncle Samuel [Magee]: Contains references to: Fitzgibbon Louch standing in election; Captain Morris; enmity between Fitzgibbon Louch and George Vesey Stewart; background to Katikati Special Settlement arrangements; George Vesey Stewart's reputation in Northern Ireland and within the new Katikati Settlement; conditions in Katikati; Fitzgibbon and John da Vinci Louch's business in Tauranga; "Te Aroha lands" and Mr Firth, landowner in this area; economics of farming land at Katikati.

Letter 2: Spring Street, Tauranga, 14 May 1882: Ernest Louch to his uncle Samuel [Magee]: Contains references to: poor soils and farming conditions at Katikati ; living and working conditions on farm at Katikati ; kauri gum ; purchase of Louch farm by Captain Macmillan ; poor financial returns from Fitzgibbon Louch's Bellevue settlement north of Auckland.

Letter 3: Spring Street, Tauranga, undated: Ernest Louch to Samuel Magee: Contains references to: economics of farming at Katikati; Fitzgibbon Louch's trip to Ireland; many residents of Katikati wishing they were in a position to leave; railway for Tauranga/Katikati.

Letter 4: Harington Street, Tauranga, 30 November 1882: Isabella Louch (nee Magee) to her brother Samuel Magee: Contains references to: relief at leaving farm at Katikati; Da Vinci Louch having shifted to Auckland; Fitzgibbon Louch appointed as Superintendent of Building at Hot Lakes (Rotorua?); domestic details, no servants, weather, garden, hens and income from sale of eggs.

Letter 5: Auckland, 24 April 1883: John da Vinci Louch to Samuel [Magee]: Contains references to: current employment situation with Messrs W. F. Hammond and Sons in Auckland; concern over Ernest's situation in Tauranga.

Letter 6: Survey Camp, Okaihau, Bay of Islands, 16 December 1883: John da Vinci Louch to Samuel [Magee]: Contains references to: current employment with Mr Harding; description of surveying land blocks in Okaihau area; description of living conditions in the survey camp.
